Food Assistance for Kids
P-EBT is a new program that gives $420 in food benefits to each child who lost access to free or reduced-price school meals because of COVID-19 school closures in the 2019-2020 school year.
- P-EBT benefits will be issued automatically by the NYS Office of Temporary and Disability Assistance (NYSOTDA).
- Eligible families will get their P-EBT benefit in different ways, depending on their situation.
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) offers reimbursement to eligible afterschool programs, child care centers, and home-based child care providers, to serve nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care.
- If you provide child care in your home, you may be able to participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP).
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) helps New Yorkers buy food.
- If you are eligible for SNAP, you can get monthly benefits to spend at local grocery stores and farmers’ markets.
- To be eligible, you must meet certain income requirements.
- The amount of benefits you receive depends on things like your household size, income and expenses.
- Nutrition Outreach and Education (NOEP) Coordinators offer one-on-one help applying for SNAP.
